Shanghai | The Chinese city at the centre of a deadly virus that has alarmed health authorities around the world is in lockdown after authorities shut transport links to Wuhan and told its 11 million residents not to leave.
The unprecedented quarantine of one of China's biggest cities came as the number of deaths from the respiratory virus, which has raised fears of a repeat of the 2003 SARS crisis, almost doubled to 17 overnight.
