China has arrested Australian journalist Cheng Lei on suspicion of illegally supplying state secrets, six months after she was detained in Beijing.
Foreign Minister Marise Payne on Monday confirmed that Ms Cheng, a television anchor with state-run English language broadcaster CGTN, was formally arrested on Friday.
