Shanghai | China and South Korea reported more cases of the coronavirus on Tuesday as concerns about the rapid spread of the new respiratory illness to Europe and the Middle East belted Australian stocks and markets around the globe.

China reported 508 new infections but said 499 of those were in Hubei province, the region at the centre of the outbreak. China also reported 71 additional deaths, of which 68 were in Hubei. The updates bring mainland China's totals to 77,658 cases and 2663 deaths.
