Hiroshima | Anthony Albanese said he has received an invitation to visit China, paving the way for the first trip by an Australian prime minister to Beijing since 2016, but warned Xi Jinping’s government must remove all trade barriers between the two countries.

Speaking shortly after arriving in Japan for the G7 leaders summit on Friday, Mr Albanese also confirmed a shortened version of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) meeting originally scheduled in Sydney would now take place in Hiroshima this weekend.
