Sydney Quad meeting cancelled, leaders to meet in Japan

Next week’s leaders meeting in Sydney of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue has been cancelled, and the leaders will instead meet on the sidelines of the Group of Seven summit in Japan this weekend, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has confirmed.

Following the decision overnight of US President Joe Biden to cancel his visit to Australia next week because of the domestic debt ceiling crisis, Mr Albanese said it would be easier if the leaders of Australia, India, the US and Japan met in Hiroshima, given all were going for the G7.
