Union push for 9pc gender-based pay rise risks inflation: employers
Employers have lashed a union push for a 9 per cent minimum wage increase for female-dominated industries as “divorced from reality” and one that could keep interest rates higher for longer and require more government funding.
The Australian Council of Trade Unions made the landmark claim in a submission on Monday that seeks to apply Labor’s recently introduced gender equity objective to the Fair Work Commission’s annual wage review for the first time.
