Uber has warned the Albanese government against a “catastrophic” scenario if broad employee-style conditions are imposed on gig workers, pointing to an almost 70 per cent drop in couriers in cases overseas where they have been forced into employment.
The rideshare giant’s latest submission on the government’s proposed gig economy reforms has urged it to stick to minimum pay and dispute resolution for its 150,000 workers and strongly opposed penalty rates, overtime, minimum shifts, leave or breaks.
