Impact of Easter penalty rate cuts 'exaggerated'
New union-backed research claiming hospitality and retail workers will miss out on $80 million in penalty rates across Easter and Anzac Day is filled with inaccuracies and "gross overestimations", employers say.
The Australian Institute's Centre for Future Work released research on Wednesday calculating workers will lose a total $630 million this financial year as a result of the Fair Work Commission's cuts to Sunday and public holiday rates, with more than $80 million in the upcoming 10-day holiday period alone.
