How BHP's magic circles helped heal Escondida strike rift

BHP's bumper profit result was one of the highlights of earnings season and no division delivered bigger gains than the Minerals Americas business run by Danny Malchuk.

Underlying earnings before interest and tax at BHP's flagship copper mine Escondida, in Chile, soared 136 per cent to $US3.3 billion, as the ramp-up of a third copper concentrator helped the asset deliver record throughput.
