John Wylie has found himself at the centre of swirling capital markets for close to four decades. So when the understated, softly spoken but straight-talking investment banker says some of the most seismic shifts of his career are afoot, you know enough to sit up and take notice.

“The Australian capital markets are changing,” he casually drops in, after almost 40 minutes of discussion. Wylie’s own investment vehicle, Tanarra Capital, is soon set to more than double to over $4 billion, including a new $300 million restructuring debt fund led by Lindsay Maxsted and insolvency expert Ian Carson.
