She almost didn’t take up legal studies in the first place, but didn’t expect to find job hunting so difficult.

I manage to arrive at Bambini Trust Restaurant and Wine Room on the edge of the Sydney CBD on time. But Patricia McKenzie is already seated at our table, nestled in a quiet corner by the marble bar.

I also manage to ignore the pair of crutches next to the chairman of lots of things, including AGL Energy, and instead launch straight into a conversation about Sam Mostyn, another serial director, who has just been announced as Australia’s next governor-general.
