Bran Black hadn’t officially started as the chief executive of the Business Council of Australia last year when he called up the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia CEO, Luke Achterstraat.

“We’ve got to get to [independent senator David] Pocock,” Achterstraat recalls Black saying, as the pair got straight to the business of dealing with Labor’s pending workplace law changes.
