Stop bashing universities over international students: chancellor

University of Technology Sydney chancellor Catherine Livingstone says it is time to stop blaming universities for their reliance on foreign students, arguing their role as a significant export industry should be formally recognised in education policy.

Before the onset of COVID-19 export income from overseas students was hailed as Australia’s third-largest export sector. But universities have been criticised for their reliance on overseas students to help fund domestic students and research programs.
