Sir Peter Cosgrove, as you would expect, arrives at 1pm on the dot. He will leave Sydney's Felix restaurant precisely one hour later.
The retired governor-general and former chief of the Defence Force immediately puts me at ease when I ask if I should call him Sir Peter. "That's only good for restaurant bookings," he says.
