The Voice is not Orwellian, just read between the lines

In the lead-up to the referendum on the Voice to parliament, critical reading skills have never been more constitutionally important.

Critical literacy is a 21st century skill. It is the ability to read or view something and determine whose interests it serves, and how it is trying to position you by the language or images chosen. It goes beyond source checking, even fact-checking, to issues of power and political persuasion.

As the possibility of the referendum draws near, Australians have a unique opportunity to exercise their critical literacy muscles.
