‘Envy tax’ would trash international education: study
A proposed export tax to redistribute a proportion of revenue from universities that are good at recruiting overseas students to those that aren’t would shrink student and staff numbers and have a detrimental effect on Australia’s reputation, according to new analysis.
The so-called ‘envy tax’ is one of dozens of proposals being entertained by a major review of the university sector commissioned by Education Minister Jason Clare.
