Brilliant ideas rejected as scheme overwhelmed by demand
A new $1.6 billion research program intended to build national capacity in advanced manufacturing for medical sciences, renewables and low emissions technologies has been accused of overlooking brilliant ideas simply because the bureaucracy was overwhelmed with applications.
The first round of Australia’s Economic Accelerator, which is designed to “develop a pipeline from discovery through to commercialisation” has rejected dozens of applications seeking more than $200,000.
