Australia’s universities tumble down global rankings

Six Australian universities have again been listed in the world’s top 100 universities, but the top five all slipped back compared with last year as pandemic-era revenue cuts hit their financial viability.

The University of Melbourne was named Australia’s best university on The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025, although it fell two places to 39.
