Sydney Olympic FC chief’s firm investigated over $70m ‘tax scam’

A construction industry firm owned and run by the president of the Sydney Olympic Football Club, Damon Hanlin, is being investigated over an elaborate scheme that allegedly defrauded the tax office of up to $70 million.

Liquidator Darren Vardy of Insolvency Options has taken control of more than 40 labour hire, payroll and related companies involved in the alleged scheme. It was allegedly run by Sam Henderson, a former insolvency adviser who was found dead in a North Sydney hotel room last year.
