Sharemarket poised to rally into year end

Improved prospects for a vaccine and stability during the next US presidential term are set to push the Australian benchmark above its February record close.
The S&P/ASX 200 index closed at 6340.5 points on Tuesday, after rising 0.7 per cent to an eight-month high following an announcement from US pharmaceuticals giant Pfizer which raised expectations of an effective COVID-19 vaccine entering circulation within months.
