Election tax showdown on who is rich

The experts tell us Australia is a rich country. Average gross household wealth remains above $1 million and on measures of median wealth per adult, Australia tops the global rankings, ahead even of Switzerland.
But people feel poorer because the value of their home is dropping and although average full-time ordinary earnings are between $80,000 and $90,000, the “typical” Australian earns far less at $57,918.
