Battery boom leads to a new wave of sharemarket winners

Fund managers and economists are backing the mining sector to create more wealth for investors over the next decade as demand for lithium, copper, nickel and rare earths soars on the transition to renewable energy and demand for batteries.
But the challenge for investors will be obtaining appropriate exposure to a broad and complex sector, notorious for its volatility and boom-to-bust cycles.
