The cut-off for this year’s Financial Review Rich Women List surged by 56 per cent to $203 million, leaving dozens of wealthy women just outside the top 75.
In 75th place was Marylyn New, who built her fortune following the death of her father Ric New – the founder of Midland Brick who was considered the king of the brick-making industry in Western Australia – and owned the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle until 2012, when she sold it for almost $90 million.
