When Aurora Fonte started her business, cleaning a suburban office building with her husband, Franco, she scrubbed away as if she was polishing the tiles of her own bathroom.

"We were doing such a great job, probably in hindsight, too good. We were spending a lot of time working nooks and crannies and things that a normal cleaning operation wouldn't pick up," she says, 27 years later.
