Why age restrictions on social media ‘won’t happen overnight’

Banning children below a certain age from using social media will be difficult to enforce unless the platforms are forced to reveal how many of their users are underage, the eSafety commissioner says.
Julie Inman Grant, who heads up Australia’s online watchdog, said more Australian data was needed to determine the right age to start accessing social media, beginning with an audit of how many users are children.
