What you need to know about NASA’s new images of the universe

The James Webb Deep Space Telescope this week revealed some very exciting images from the birth of our universe. This is what they show.

arth’s inhabitants got a peak back through the family tree this week when US President Joe Biden shared the first images from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope.

The images are of a tiny sliver of space, called SMACS 0723. The extraordinary resolution shows myriad twinkling galaxies that are among the oldest and faintest in the universe, as they were 46 billion years ago.
