Sao Paulo | TikTok will invest more than $US37.7 billion ($56 billion) to build a data centre in Brazil, marking its first project in Latin America.
In Australia TikTok has plans to build data centres around the country, but has failed to get necessary approvals from the Foreign Investment Review Board for more than a year amid questions about whether foreign technology giants should be able to build, own and operate critical local infrastructure.
