Super funds pile into tech as AirTree closes $275m fund

Sydney-based AirTree Ventures has pulled in a number of superannuation funds to back one of the largest ever local funds targeted at investments in emerging technology companies, with $275 million raised.

Local venture capital (VC) funds have long urged institutional investors to loosen the purse strings and take a punt on innovative new companies, and a few have taken a plunge in recent years, but AirTree's third fund is notable for having six institutional investors on board; including super and endowment funds.
