Supply problems in the chip manufacturing industry are so deep-seated and systemic that a worsening shortage won’t be over until 2022 at the earliest, industry analysts have warned.

And while the crisis was precipitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, this won’t be the last time industries run short of crucial electronic components.
