Melbourne tech firm snapped up for $1.7b

Melbourne-based SMS marketing technology company MessageMedia has been bought for $US1.3 billion ($1.7 billion) by Swedish rival Sinch in the latest big money acquisition to see Australian innovation snapped up by overseas buyers.

The huge deal, one of the largest ever for an Australian technology company, comes less than a week after another Melbourne-based tech player A Cloud Guru was bought by US firm Pluralsight for $2 billion.
