The $1 billion Australian start-up Linktree says it has learnt from the 2021 tech bubble when it went on a freewheeling hiring spree and plans to hire more sustainably as part of a new and more diverse attitude to recruitment.

Rosanna Biggs, Linktree’s senior vice president of people and culture and general counsel, said the company’s decision to sack 145 people over the past two years was strategic. She accused the Australian tech sector of failing to champion the industry’s successes.
