Inside Aussie Instagram high flyer's app-driven life
Key Points
- My devices
iPhone, AirPods, Facebook Portal and Satellite Navigation (I have no sense of direction). - My tech dos and don'ts "I try to be open to new ways to connect and communicate, I want to experience all the innovation that technology provides and then be choiceful about what I do and don’t continue to use. From the time I come home from work, until when my three children go to bed, I try to keep my phone packed away."
- My tech guilty pleasures "Shopping on Instagram. It's no longer a special occasion, it's a hobby for me and a guilty pleasure that I enjoy when the kids are in bed at night. I love the serendipitous nature of scrolling through Instagram and seeing the the things I never knew I wanted or needed, from new businesses I've never seen before. I love podcasts – Hidden Brain by NPR; Here’s The Thing by Alec Baldwin and Unravel from the ABC."
You might expect one of Instagram's most important executives in Asia Pacific to be something of a power poser herself, but truth be told Naomi Shepherd would rather her phone helped her to keep her real life in order, rather than to portray a fake perfect one to her followers.
As a group director for both Facebook and Instagram, she is one of the driving forces behind a big push for Instagram to replicate its US success across Asia. She is also a big believer in the power of technology to help her get the best out of her hectic personal and professional life.
