Members of Australia's cyber security sector have reacted with a combination of cautious optimism and scepticism as the government laid out details of a $1.35 billion cash splash on new measures, pitched as bolstering national defences against virtual foreign incursions.
News of the policy was first reported overnight on Tuesday as Scott Morrison announced the $470 million would be used to create more than 500 new jobs within the Australian Signals Directorate, the highly regarded agency responsible for thwarting cyber attacks.
