‘Cash only’ and old-fashioned IOUs: how businesses dealt without Optus

Nidal Mkazi got a call at 1.30am on Wednesday from the employee working the night shift at his Brisbane convenience store to say the eftpos system was down and could not take payments.
It was one of thousands of businesses disrupted by the Optus outage which left millions of Australians without phone or internet services for close to nine hours.
