Aussies raid Amazon to build AI search start-up

A Melbourne start-up founded by two Amazon alumni has raised $US5.2 million ($8 million) from its seed round led by Blackbird to build a search engine that allows developers to use the latest AI models in their applications.
Marqo was founded last year by Jesse Clark, a former lead scientist at Amazon Robotics AI, and Tom Hamer, a former software engineer at Amazon Web Services, who met through a mutual colleague.
