Slattery green lights Sydney to Perth undersea cable construction

Megaport chairman Bevan Slattery has given the green light to start construction on an undersea connection from Sydney to Perth, signing with Alcatel Submarine Networks to build the 5000 kilometre cable.

The cable, which will be installed by Optic Marine Systems, is the first stage of construction of HyperOne, a national fibre backhaul network shaping up to be the businessman’s next major venture. Slattery has already founded NextDC and Superloop, now both ASX-listed companies.
