M&A deals to spike ahead of merger reforms, says Corrs
The Federal Government’s overhaul of merger laws will trigger a surge of deals in the first half of 2025 as dealmakers rush to get transactions across the line, says law firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth.
In an interview with Street Talk, head of corporate Sandy Mak predicts that buyers and sellers will fast-track their deals with tight timetables to completion. This, she says, will be to try to seal the deal before the mandatory notification regime comes into effect from January 1, 2026.
