Infrastructure investor UTA draws in private wealth clients

Mum and dad investors have gained exposure to some of Australia’s prized infrastructure assets like Transgrid, Melbourne Airport and the Sydney Desalination Plant, via one of the country’s oldest infrastructure investors.

Street Talk understands that Invest Unlisted, run by veteran deal maker Jonathan van Rooyen, who ran point on the investor revolt that grounded Westpac-backed Hastings back in 2016, has been mopping up prized secondary fund positions through its Core Infrastructure Fund, including a $200 million slice of Utilities Trust of Australia.
