The criteria to get on the annual Best Lawyers list of the top legal minds in Australia are murky. But you’d think admission to the list would presume a lawyer isn’t just good at their job but also at keeping their personal affairs in order.

Yet the recently released Best Lawyers for 2026 included, for the first time, Jamie Darams, SC, for employment law in Australia.
