It has been nearly 15 months since group chief executive Jean-Sébastien Jacques, iron ore chief Chris Salisbury and head of external – including Indigenous – relations Simone Niven were forced by large shareholders out of resources giant Rio Tinto. The triumvirate were ultimately responsible for the destruction of Juukan Gorge over the protests of its traditional owners, the Puutu Kunti Kurrama and Pinikura peoples, a cultural property crime that attracted global outrage.
