Coldplay wanted $10m to play at Fortescue’s birthday

For such a lavish affair, the Festival of Fortescue at the weekend did spare one expense.

Before settling on Aussie rock icon Jimmy Barnes, organisers of the iron ore company’s 20-year birthday bash considered having Elton John play the Pilbara (the mind boggles), and went so far as to ask British rockers Coldplay how much it would cost to have them headline.
