Why confusion over the national housing accord launch is a worry

It is not a commitment to one million “affordable” homes. Delivered by the market, many of those new homes will be quite unaffordable.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers and Housing Minister Julie Collins have a bit of explaining to do.

Their national housing accord, cobbled together with the states, local government and industry over the past six weeks, was widely welcomed and, according to community housing leader Michele Adair, a “game changer”.
