An Australian chapter of the global Yes In My Backyard movement will use a $US500,000 ($762,000) grant from US philanthropic backers to fight planning laws they believe are preventing younger buyers getting into the housing market.

YIMBY Melbourne organiser Jonathan O’Brien revealed at the group’s AGM this week they had secured a two-year grant from Open Philanthropy, a committed supporter of US groups.
