Mortgage brokers escape Hayne crackdown on commissions

Mortgage brokers have escaped the banking royal commission’s recommendation to ban their commissions, with the Morrison government dumping a promised review of broker remuneration.

A proposed review of trailing commissions for mortgage brokers that was pledged by the government three years ago in response to the Kenneth Hayne-led royal commission will not go ahead, Assistant Treasurer Michael Sukkar will announce on Saturday.
