Ex-Goldman Sachs chair splurges on $14.5m mansion

Goldman Sachs’ former top investment banker, Christian Johnston, and his wife, retail and cosmetics executive Jinah, have upgraded their Mornington Peninsula escape, swapping a Main Ridge mansion for historic Portsea estate Marlborough House.

Mr Johnston, who retired as chairman of Goldman Sachs in 2023 at age 50, recently paid $14.5 million to long-time owners, TPF Group CEO Simon Strapp – who is the son of car dealer Ted – and his wife Allison. The Strapps paid $2.15 million for the grand property in 2002.
