‘Too competitive to be average’: Why Goldies legend CJ is bowing out

Goldman Sachs veteran Christian Johnston says he’s still loves investment banking, but he knows it’s time to hang up the boots. 

Even at the humble age of 50, Goldman Sachs Australia’s top investment banker Christian Johnston still gets the competitive juices flowing each weekend during summer by throwing himself around the cricket fields of Melbourne.

And it’s that same competitive attitude that has led Johnston, universally known in the Australian business community as CJ, to retire from the Goldman Sachs partnership and step down as chairman of the Australian business.
