Event Hospitality & Entertainment boss Jane Hastings says there will be “some benefit” to hotel owners and operators from the reopening of Australia’s international border, but no substantial recovery will occur until regular travel resumes from the key tourism markets of New Zealand and China.
“It’s no doubt exciting, and we’ve seen some evidence of pick-up in the corporate and student market, but because of the COVID-zero policy in China, we’ve yet to see signs of any early recovery in that market,” Ms Hastings told The Australian Financial Review.
