Online boom drives Amazon’s Melbourne expansion

Amazon will open a sorting centre the size of the MCG in the city’s outer northern suburbs by the end of the year as it ramps up its east coast supply chain to cater for the online shopping boom.
Known as a “middle mile” warehouse, the facility will be Amazon’s first dedicated sorting centre in Australia with capacity to process 300,000 parcels a day.
