Dominic Barba says it was legendary businessman John Singleton who inspired him to make his maiden investment in the country's booming pub sector.

Mr Barba, who made his fortune supplying fresh fruit and vegetables to cruise ships, airlines and hotels, paid $12 million for the Harbour View Hotel in Sydney's The Rocks precinct in July last year, acquiring it from retiring owner Brian Perry.
