Pro-Palestine protesters storm university building

A group of 100 student protesters stormed a major building at the University of Melbourne after two other institutions moved to clear out encampments as a highly charged standoff over support for Palestinians came to a head.

Police were called to the Arts West building at around 4pm on Wednesday after the protesters – who said they were paying tribute to a student enrolled at the university who was killed in Gaza – refused to leave. All classes at the occupied site were cancelled.
